August Iron Cupcake Chicago: Summer Fruits IronCupcake is a friendly cupcake competition where amateur and professional bakers put their skills and recipes to the test.  Each month features a special ingredient that needs to be incorporated into the cupcake.  August’s theme is summer fruit! Summer fruits are juicy and delicious — and now is your time to use them in your own unique recipe and compete in IronCupcake. Results of IronCupcake July Chicago Challenge: Berry Patriotic

Last night, I competed in the IronCupcake Challenge.  It was great fun even though my first batch of cuppies failed and my kitchen looked like a cupcake massacre took place.

I guess it paid off, because I ended up being the overall winning!  I was pretty stocked.  I have never really won anything before except that once at the orthodontist office when I was 13.  So, I am going to ride out the jubilation of this event.  

I’ll admit, I did feel a bit bad winning.  So many others were more delicious!  I particularly enjoyed the blueberry red velvet cupcake (it won for taste) and the extra whipped frosting on the raspberry lavender cupcake.

I cannot wait till the next competition!  I hope to see plenty more competitors and of course tasters the next time around.  I’ll keep you updated on the August Challenge.

Don’t Forget IronCupcake “Berry Patriotic” is TONIGHT!

July’s IronCupcake:Chicago challenge is “BERRY PATRIOTIC”. Your cupcake creations should include one type of berry and be decorated with the colors “RED, WHITE and BLUE”. This challenge will be in honor of “GOOD OLD USA”, so let’s celebrate our country’s birthday with “CUPCAKES”.

I was just wandering the blog-a-sphere to find out when the next IronCupake:Earth challenge was, and to my surprise I found that the Cupcake Queen announced the June challenge as the last challenge:   “It has been a super fun couple of years, but like all awesome things it’s best days are behind us. The IronCupcake:Earth blog will go down at the end of June… IronCupcake:Milwaukee and the many LOCAL challenges are still going strong and I encourage you to start one in your town if you haven’t already.” Lucky for us Chicagoans, Beautiful Cakes has already been putting on our own local challenges for the past year.   I bid farewell to you IronCupcake:Earth.  You were a dear friend.
